This work integrates the imagery of waves with the structural design of a transmission mechanism, seeking to articulate the fluid nature of water and its transformations. The image condenses time into a three-dimensional dimension, solidifying it in a manner similar to water itself.

The installation senses the viewer’s distance; as one approaches, the mechanism is activated, setting the paper pages in motion and initiating a flipbook-like mode of dynamic narration. This interaction produces a bodily perception comparable to the experience of moving toward an oncoming wave.

Through the visual experience that unfolds between seeing and embodied perception, the work aims to expand the viewer’s preconceived understanding of image output, and to reconsider how images might return to the essence of creation within an era of mechanical reproduction.

Water represents dynamics and freedom. Through translation by an image-based installation, its materiality is extracted within an entirely alternative, third-party context, where distnace is stretched across time. When viewed from afar, the work appears as a static object, segmenting time into orderly, uniform fragments. As the viewer approaches and triggers the mechanical flipping, the pages hover between motion and stillness, transforming into a thin space that invites repeated seeing and reading.

Mechanical operation and randomness alter the state of the aggregated images, allowing the energies of water and paper to circulate and flow continuously through the space.

此作品結合「浪」的意象與傳動裝置的結構設計,試圖表述「水」的流體本質與其變體,影像如水般凝結出一種立體的時間維度。

裝置透過感知人的距離,於觀者靠近時,將觸發機械開始轉動紙頁,進行翻閱式的動態敘事結構,製造如人接近浪潮般的身體知覺。

此作品企圖透過「觀看」與「身體感知」之間的視覺體驗,擴展觀者對影像輸出的既定認知,繼而思考在機械複製時代之下,影像如何回歸創作的本質。

 

「水」既動態且自由,而透過影像裝置的轉譯,在完全另類的第三方空間中,擷取出其實體性,並在時間的跨度上拉開距離。當觀者於遠處觀望,此作品為一靜止的物件,切割出整齊劃一的時間片段;當觀者因靠近而觸發機械翻閱時,紙頁便介於動態與靜態之間,轉變為可以不斷反覆觀看的薄空間。

 

機械性與隨機性改變了集合影像的狀態,使水與紙頁的能量於空間中,不斷往返、流動。
